A lovely friendly pub which is great to visit when you're out for a walk.
Highly recommended after a nice walk along the countryside! A nice lunch and a pint to celebrate!
We went there on Wednesday, early afternoon. Fairly quite. Standard selection of beers.Burger was OK and Fish&Chips could be better (my wife words)
Although it was only moderately busy for a Sunday lunchtime we were unimpressed that we had to clear, then lay our own table. After failing to get it cleaned we asked for a wet cloth to do it ourselves. The barman handed us a wet paper serviette to do the task. When we asked why we had to produce our own DIY service we were told, without apology, that they were 'understaffed.' Aside from this, we had friendly service later on and the food was quite good. Usually an enjoyable pub to visit, this was perhaps an 'off' day.
Stopped off towards the end of 11mile walk. Very old character inside. Lots of outside seating for the good weather. Good selection of ales.
